Creating Your User Account
Before you can log into the VCL, you must create an account. When you point your browser to the http://uopeoplelab.org URL, you will be presented with the following screen.
There are 3 of pink buttons one of which indicates “Create New Account”. To create a new account for the VCL click on this button. You will be presented with the following screen.
To create your new account fill in the information in the form. You must fill in EVERY field on the form or your account may not work correctly. You must fill in every field on the form and then click on the button “create new virtual computing lab account”. There are a couple of pieces of information that are very important.
First, as a student of the University of the People you will have been issued a Student ID number. This number begins with the letter S and which is capitalized and is followed by a number. You must enter this student ID into the first field of the form correctly. Make sure that you capitalize the letting S that begins your student id.
The display name is the name that will be displayed when you enter the account. It is recommended that you use the same spelling and format of your name that is used for your Moodle account. One point to remember is that you should NOT use any punctuation in your name (in particular the single or double quotation marks) as this may prevent your account from being created correctly.
The email address is important because it is the email address that password reset information will be sent to if you need to reset your password at any point.
The username is a username for the account that you may select. It is recommended that you use the same username (and password) that you use for your Moodle account. Please keep in mind, however, that if you change your password in
Moodle it will NOT change your password in the lab. You will need to change your password in BOTH places.
Finally enter a password of your own choosing and then click on the “Create New Virtual Computing Lab Account” button. Your account will be created and you will then be able to log into the VCL.
